How did every ones season go up here? just curious, we managed to shoot the heck out of the geese. got two bands opening day of the early hunt, and shot a ross's goose opening day of the regular season. Just the highlights of the season.

No divers for you James - that's my territory!

Duck numbers around the Soo seemed alright, although I'm told they were down from last year. Had shots on every trip, which is more than I can say for my previous seasons. The main problem I ran into was the early season mallards got very smart very quick and the migrant mallards were content to sit out even the windy days in the marsh and not fly at all. Very frustrating. One day we sat in the rain for a couple hours, not seeing much, only to put up hundreds of mallards on the way back to the launch. Diver numbers seemed low compared to past years, with NO ringneck or bluebill migration witnessed by me. My family has been hunting this area (1 week or less each year) for the past 20 years with the exception of the past couple years, so my comparison of BB and ringneck numbers are based off of that info. Saw less buffleheads and teal than I expected to see, and shot more black ducks than I expected to (almost more than mallards until the end of the season). Water at the beginning of the season was about a foot higher than last year, but it dropped almost that much in a month's time. Hoping to carve and buy more decoys for next year and get a small layout boat and go after divers more. Also, geese were non-existent in an area I know that normally holds good numbers of birds. Not sure what the deal was there.

You should do alright. All any of us can do is try. Didn't Adam and his buddies show you their secret spots? If you have a boat, motor, and a few decoys you should be able to get into birds. Plus, you always have geese and trapping to fall back on. I should be able to help you out with divers, especially if you've never really hunted them before.
